& yet another giveaway...
when i was growing up my dad worked for the airlines. he traveled a lot & always brought us back "treats". he took a trip to New Orleans & from then on we were hooked. on these... beignets. they are a little french doughnut, kind of like a scone, but not. wow!- i am so crappy at this descriptive stuff! anyway, they became a Sunday tradition at our house & i think that they would be a perfect Christmas morning treat. they are super easy! all you do is add water to the mix made by Cafe Du Monde. roll them out, cut & fry them up. cover them in powder sugar & enjoy. okay, okay... the giveaway. you get 2 boxes of Beignet mix, a cute little aluminium sugar shaker & this darling rectangular milk glass platter. perfect for serving these little babies.
I'm first, yahoo! I hope I win. One of our Christmas traditions is going to see the lights and hot cocoa, yum.

We have a great tradition that started when I was young. I made my kids do it too. The kids have to eat a FULL banana before they can go in to see what is under the tree on Christmas morning- and they have to line up- youngest to oldest. We always stand inside and video them running in and the present opening craziness! It is fun and my oldest son, he says he is going to make his kids go through this same tradition too!
ReplyDeleteWith my own little family being fairly new, we don't have any set traditions quite yet. But I think I'll carry on one we had while I was growing up which is being able to open one of the presents under the tree on Christmas Eve.

We used to take our kids to Salt Lake City to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square every year. We'd go on Friday afternoon, eat dinner somewhere special, then see the lights. We would stay at a hotel downtown so we could walk. When we got back to the hotel, I'd tell the girls to unpack their little suitcases - into which I'd tucked new Christmas pj's that they hadn't seen before. It brings tears to my eyes to remember how excited they were.
ReplyDeleteWe all open pj's from our Grandma on Christmas Eve, and we have to wear them even if we think they are ugly!
ReplyDeleteI love this blog! Our traditions: One Christmas present on Christmas Eve and driving around to look at Christmas lights around the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteJust found this blog. One of our most recent traditions we started the last 8 years or so was to pick a family and to do christmas for them. One year while I was teaching school I bought some coats for some of the kids in my class that didn't have one. Another year we did christmas for a family whose mother was dealing with the issues of cancer. my email: kayetuia@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteWe have our big dinner on Christmas Eve. Our favorite is prime rib, finishing off with something chocolate for dessert. The next day we have leftovers and I can relax and enjoy the day instead of spending it all in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteOoh I love christmas traditions!!! We always drive around to look at all the christmas lights, and (like everyone else) get to open one gift christmas eve(jammies)!!!
ReplyDeleteAll of the recipes you all post look so good! I know I'm late on the giveaway, but where did you get this neat platter and darling Christmas cake stand? Love them!
